Beer Book Takes Prestigious Award
News: March 2012
The winner of the André Simon Memorial Award for drink books is The Oxford Companion to Beer. The 920-page tome is edited by Brooklyn brewmaster Garrett Oliver and features contributions from more than 160 beer experts around the world. It defeated three acclaimed wine books to take the title. The André Simon awards are now in their 34th year and are named in honour of the French wine merchant and author who died in 1970 and who had proved so influential in the British wine trade. The last beer book to win the award was Michael Jackson’s Beer Companion in 1993. |
