International Brewers Introduced for Wetherspoon Festival
News: February 2012
The line up of international brewers preparing beers for the forthcoming Wetherspoon Spring Ale Festival has been announced. Joining three times contributor Richard Chennells from the Zululand brewery in South Africa are David Yarrington of Smuttynose Brewing in the USA, Kjetil Jikiun of Nøgne Ø in Norway, Evgeny Tolstov from Russia and Willem Van Herreweghen from Timmermans in Belgium. The five brewers have each been creating versions of their beers at UK breweries, with Chennells brewing Zulu Blonde at Caledonian, Yarrington an American mild at Wadworth, Jikiun a Norwegian take on bitter at Batemans, Tolstov an imperial stout at Banks’s, and Van Herreweghen, a lighter interpretation of John Martin’s Pale Ale at Everards. The beers will be showcased during the festival, which runs in Wetherspoon pubs 14 March–1 April. |
