McFarland is Beer Writer of the Year

London-based journalist Ben McFarland has been named Michael Jackson Gold Award winner/Beer Writer of the Year by the British Guild of Beer Writers. McFarland also claimed the Fuller’s ESB Award for beer and pub trade writing, while other honours went to Mark Dredge (Shepherd Neame 1698 Award for beer and food writing), Pete Brown (Thwaites Award for corporate communications) and Martyn Cornell (Brains SA Gold Award for online media). Marverine Cole won the Adnams Award for regional media, Adrian Tierney-Jones took the Molson Coors Award for national journalism, and Des de Moor was awarded the Budweiser Budvar John White Travel Bursary (for beer and travel, relating to his book London’s Best Beer Pubs & Bars). The awards were presented at the Guild’s annual dinner in London. |
