Archers, once a famous name in small brewery circles, is to make a comeback in 2012.

The Swindon business was founded by Mark Wallington in 1979 but changed hands a number of times until being acquired by Simon Buckley of Evan Evans brewery in West Wales in 2009.

New Archers ales will go on sale next year, with the first two beers into production Archers Strong Ale (5.5%) and Archers Santa’s Glow (5%).

The former Archers brewery in Swindon, meanwhile, is now a separately owned pub and brewery called The Weighbridge Brewhouse, for which Mark Wallington is brewer.
