Vitus Dances to World Beer Crown

Vitus, the strong weizenbier from Weihenstephan, has been judged World’s Best Beer in this year’s World Beer Awards. The 7% ABV wheat beer comes from the world’s oldest brewery, based in the university town of Freising, just north of Munich. Other major winners in the contest are Rodenbach Grand Cru (World’s Best Dark Ale), Deschutes Hop Henge (World’s Best Pale Ale), Samuel Adams Double Bock (World’s Best Lager) and Harvey’s Imperial Extra Double Stout (World’s Best Stout/Porter).
