Liverpool brewery Cains has announced the appointment of Jim Kerr as its new head brewer.

Kerr began his brewing career in Liverpool, as a trainee with Whitbread. He later became head brewer at Castle Eden brewery in County Durham and operations director at Brains in Cardiff.

Kerr joins Cains after three years working for a wine company and a period of semi-retirement.
