Essex Ale is CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain

A mild ale from Mighty Oak brewery, based in Maldon, Essex, has been judged Champion Beer of Britain by the Campaign for Real Ale. Oscar Wilde (3.7%) came out on top after a series of blind tastings staged at the Great British Beer Festival at Earl’s Court, London, with judging panels comprised of CAMRA activists, brewers, writers and other experts. Oscar Wilde also won the Mild category. Overall runner-up was Chocolate, from Marble Brewery in Manchester, with Shropshire Gold, from Salopian Brewery in Shrewsbury, taking third place.
