Oak-aged beer specialist Innis & Gunn has launched a pair of fruit beers that are currently on sale in Tesco supermarkets in the UK.

The base beer is a lager brew – not the Belgian-style lambic, brown ale or wheat beer normally associated with fruit beers – while the locally-grown fruit is cold pressed by fellow Scottish company Ella Drinks.

Melville’s Strawberry and Melville’s Raspberry (both 4.1% ABV) are named after Edinburgh’s Melville Street where, it is reported, Innis & Gunn founder Dougal Sharp came up with the idea. The beers are designed to be ‘served over ice’.
