A-B InBev Buys Goose Island
News: March 2011
Chicago craft brewer Goose Island has been acquired by international brewing giant Anheuser-Busch InBev for $38.8 million, but Goose Island founder John Hall is to remain as chief executive of the business. Founded in 1988, Goose Island is famous for beers such as its India Pale Ale, Bourbon County Stout and 312 Urban Wheat. Anheuser-Busch has acted as a distributor for Goose Island beers since 2006 and will now invest $1.3 million to extend production capacity at Goose Island’s Fulton Street brewery in Chicago. The two Goose Island brewpubs in the city, however, are not part of the deal and will continue to trade independently. |
