A report issued by the Marston’s Beer Company confirms that the UK market for premium bottled ales is continuing to build, outperforming beer sales as a whole.

The report, based on figures collated by AC Nielsen, Kantar Worldpanel and Marston’s own shopper survey, reveals that the sector grew by 3.4% by volume and 6.9% by value. Premium canned ales are also on the up, growing by 9.3% by volume and 12.6% by value, while standard canned ale is declining by 3.9% and 1.4% by volume and value, respectively.

The report declares that 135,000 new customers have been drawn into the premium bottled ale market in the past year.
