Weather and Economic Uncertainty Blamed for Poor UK Beer Sales
News: October 2010
The latest quarterly statistics show a drop of 9.7% in overall beer sales in the UK. The figures, compiled by the British Beer and Pub Association, show that off-sales were the most affected, down 12%, while pub sales were less diminished, at 7.8%. BBPA Chief Executive Brigid Simmonds suggested that the aftermath of the football World Cup, combined with poor summer weather and uncertainty over the economic outlook for the country, was responsible for the slow down. |
