News: June 2010

The Orkney-based Highland Brewing Company has won CAMRA’s Champion Beer of Scotland competition for 2010 with its 6% strong bitter, Orkney Blast, a beer named after a local wartime newspaper for the armed forces.

It is the third time that the company has claimed the title, after successes in 2007 with Dark Munro and in 2008 with Scapa Special.

The competition was judged at the Scottish Real Ale Festival, held in Edinburgh, 24–26 June.
