News: April 2010

Britain’s major new brewing attraction, The National Brewery Centre, opens on 1 May.

The interactive tourist experience is based in the former Bass Museum/Coors Visitor Centre in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Six costumed performers will work on site, playing roles from Burton’s past.

Other features include shire horses, steam locomotives, a mock-up of a Victorian railway station, a collection of vintage vehicles and a large scale-model of Burton in 1921, revealing how busy the brewing town was in those days.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a tutored ale tasting as part of their entrance fee, with beers produced on site at the White Shield brewery, many of which will be re-creations of long-lost famous ales. ‘Beer Bites’, a beery equivalent of tapas, will be served in the bar/restaurant, along with what is described as a ‘high quality gastropub menu’.

More information is available from the National Brewery Centre website.
