Roosters and BrewDog were the main achievers among the UK brewers represented at the World Beer Cup, judged in Chicago this month.

Fifty-one British beers were entered in the competition, which featured brews from 44 countries but was dominated by American brewers with 2,371 entries.

Gold medals were awarded to BrewDog for its Hardcore IPA in the Imperial India Pale Ale category and Roosters for its Leghorn in the English-style Summer Ale category. Roosters also claimed silver in the same class with YPA.

Other British medallists were Thornbridge, whose Bracia was silver medallist in the group for Specialty Honey Beers, and Shepherd Neame, whose Spitfire was awarded bronze among the Special Bitter or Best Bitter selection.
