SIBA to Offer Feedback on New Hop
News: March 2010
A new hop strain developed by the National Hop Assocation (NHA) is to be evaluated by members of SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) at its annual conference this month. The new dwarf hop, the first to result from the NHA’s new breeding programme, has been propagated for its bittering qualities and to provide a low food-mileage British alternative to hops imported from other parts of the world. It has been on trial for two years, culminating in a brew using the hop by Shepherd Neame. SIBA members will sample the ale and submit their feedback to the NHA, which will then decide whether to roll out cultivation of the hop to selected farms. |
