Meantime’s ‘Old Brewery’ to Open in March
News: February 2010
Discover Greenwich, a new cultural visitors’ centre, opens at the Old Royal Naval College on 23 March. Part of the attraction is The Old Brewery, run by Meantime Brewing.
The College has a brewing heritage dating back to Tudor times and this is to be revived by the award-winning local brewers. Eight new copper-clad brewing tanks have been installed in an area that last housed a brewery in the 19th century.
Brewer Alastair Hook and his team are aiming to produce beers that include ancient ingredients such as bog myrtle and wormwood, as well as adventurous, modern beers that will enhance the cuisine prepared for the café/restaurant of which the brewery will form a central part.
The new venture complements the forthcoming move of Meantime’s main brewery to a major new production centre in the same part of London.
