News: February 2010

The Kelham Island Tavern, a community local in Sheffield, has been judged national Pub of the Year by the Campaign for Real Ale. It is the second year running that the pub – which only opened in 2002 – has won the title.

The CAMRA award is judged on a number of criteria, including the quality and range of beers on sale, service, comfort, welcome and value for money. The three runners-up were The Royal Oak at Wantage, Oxfordshire; The Crown Hotel, Worthington, Greater Manchester; and The Royal Oak, Friday Street, West Sussex.

Only two other pubs have claimed the CAMRA crown more than once: The Fat Cat in Norwich (winner in 1998 and 2004) and The Swan at Little Totham, Essex (2002 and 2005).
