SIBA Celebrates 30th Anniversary
News: January 2010
SIBA, the Society of Independent Brewers, is celebrating its 30th birthday.
The UK trade association was founded in a Swindon pub on 26 January 1980 as the Small Independent Brewers’ Association, but changed its name as its membership grew and encompassed larger businesses.
SIBA cites among its achievements the introduction of the Direct Delivery scheme, to help brewers supply beers to certain pub group houses, and its role in persuading the Government to embrace Progressive Beer Duty, which offers a tax break for small and medium-sized breweries.
Membership of the organization today numbers around 450.
