News: January 2010

North Yorkshire’s Copper Dragon Brewery has been rescued from administration.

Bankers called in administrators to the Skipton brewery shortly before Christmas, following sizeable losses incurred by the pub side of the business.

The company has now been bought by former owner and founder Steve Taylor for £3 million. Taylor will own 100% of the business, as opposed to 75% in the past. Six pubs (two owned and four leased) are part of the deal. The move safeguards 55 jobs and the company now plans to create ten more positions.

Copper Dragon has expanded rapidly since its launch in 2002, moving to new premises with a bistro attached in 2008.
