1872 Porter, from Elland Brewery in Yorkshire, has been judged CAMRA’s Champion Winter Beer of Britain.

The 6.5% beer was runner-up in the competition last year and this time around saw off challenges from Breconshire Ramblers Ruin (silver medal) and Acorn Gorlovka Imperial Stout (bronze).

1872 also claimed the gold award in the Porters category, with the Breconshire and Acorn beers winning gold in the Old Ales & Strong Milds and Stouts categories, respectively. The Barley Wine category was won by Robinson’s Old Tom.
