Betwixt Becomes Peerless and Goes Full Whack
News: December 2009
The Wirral’s Betwixt Beer Co has a new identity. Following restructuring of the business, the brewery is now known as Peerless Brewing Company, with former Betwixt director Steve Briscoe taking over as Managing Director.
A new range of cask ales has been launched as part of the development. These include Full Whack, a strong pale ale (6%), named after a phrase used by Liverpool sailors in the 19th century when demanding their full rations. The phrase is believed to have given rise to the term ‘whacker’ for a Liverpudlian.
Other new beers are Hilbre Gold (4.5%), Triple Blond (4.1%) and Dark Arts (4.1%). Two Betwixt beers, Red Rocks (5%) and Storr cask lager (4.8%), have been retained as part of the selection.
