Celebrity chef Brian Turner has embraced the beer-and-food matching concept by launching the first of a series of beers specifically designed to pair with food.

Amber Ale (4.2%) has been created by Brian in conjunction with Thornbridge Brewery. It is made from a complex malt grist consisting of Maris Otter pale malt, dark crystal, amber, chocolate and roasted barley. The hops are Fuggle and Golding. Turner suggests it’s a perfect accompaniment for dishes such as steak, ale and caramelized onion pie.

The beer will be available in cask-conditioned form in a number of Mitchells & Butlers pubs, including the Nicholson and Classics chains, in coming months. Three more beers, again brewed by Thornbridge, are scheduled to follow Amber Ale.
