News: September 2009

Harviestoun Brewery has widened the distribution of its wood-aged porter, Ola Dubh.

Ola Dubh (‘Black Oil’) is a rich, dark, 8% ABV beer created in collaboration with Highland Park whisky distillery. Based on Harviestoun’s award-winning Old Engine Oil, the beer was launched to great acclaim in late 2007 but the entire production was purchased by B United International, for sale in the USA, where it has built something of a cult following.

The initial release of Ola Dubh range comprised three expressions, brewed in small batches and aged in casks formerly used to mature Highland Park 12-year old, Highland Park 16-year old and Highland Park 30-year old whiskies. The October 2009 release adds Ola Dubh matured in casks from Highland Park 18-year old and Highland Park 40-year old vintages.

The beer is now available in Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Eire, Finland, Italy, Japan, Norway, Sweden, UK and USA.
