Garrett Oliver

If you only ever buy one book on pairing beer with food, make sure it’s this one.

Garrett Oliver is a great spokesman for the world of brewing. His day job may be as brewmaster at Brooklyn Brewery in New York but he moonlights as a fantastic advocate of beer in all its glory.

The passion Garrett delivers in his many talks about beer is mirrored in The Brewmaster’s Table. With his insider knowledge of how beer is made, and his extensive travelling experience in pursuit of the finest beers, he is well placed to write about excellence in that department.

Throw in a very obvious fondness for good dining, facilitated by life in that most cosmopolitan of cities, and you can see why he just had to write this book.

It’s a big, enthusiastically-composed tome. The reader is taken on a bibulous tour of the world with excursions off into perfect dining matches to accompany all the beer styles. If you want to know what sort of food German weissbiers go with, or the ideal beer to pair with a Mexican burrito, Garrett’s your man.

The Brewmaster’s Table groans under the weight of great beer and food combinations and should be a feature of every beer library.
